Pilgrms started well, but could not sustain that early progress and turn possession into points in this pre-season friendly. On the half-hour mark poor defence allowed the visitors to score an unconverted try in the right hand corner. Into stoppage time Deal & Betteshanger did the same on the left flank and led  10-0 at the break.. Canterbury had been slow getting the ball down their back line, and the visitors handling had been better, but the game was still there to win,  However, the Pilgrims, many of whom were playing their first game together, were being bullied by a more experienced side. Canterbury started the second half promisingly but after 11 minutes the visitors gained an unexpected advantage to score under the posts to make it 15-0. On 20 minutes, Ross Comfort intercepted a visitors backs move and ran in a good try for Liam Browne to convert. Another good breakaway try and conversion saw the visitors wrap up the win while Pilgrims need to learn quickly from this unimpressive performance before they travel to Westcombe Park for the last of their warm-up games.
