Match Report

                            WESTCOMBE PARK 2ND 22 CANTERBURY PILGRIMS 15

Luck and the referee were not on Pilgrims side as they succumbed to a second half converted try in this pre-season friendly.  A squad light on replacements were further handicapped by injuries and red and yellow cards. They took the lead with a try from centre Brad Allchurch but ‘Combe drew level, despite their being a clear knock-on before the score. Allchurch grabbed his second try but the home side levelled by half time, again inI doubtful circumstances,.  After the break some indifferent tackling allowed Combe to take the lead for the first time but a great team effort ended with an Alex Miller try which brought it to 15-15.  A sin-binning for Ross Comfort and then a sending off for prop Dan Gill as tempers flared were no help to Pilgrims cause.  They paid for it by conceding the converted try which proved to be the winner in game they did not deserve to lose.
