CANTERBURY 3RD 33 SEVENOAKS 3RD 21
Canterbury battled to an excellent win over the hitherto unbeaten Premier East league leaders. Sevenoaks brought a powerful team to the MTG and played a controlled, relentless style of rugby but the city club countered that with spectacular individual efforts. The first came from Luke Murray who broke clear from 30 metres out. Sevenoaks responded by pouncing on a sloppy exit from Canterbury, but the home side answered that with a clean break and score from captain Brad Allchurch. Soon after, Andre Allen found space around the outside before using his strength to power through a last ditch tackle and score. The visitors brought more pressure to bear but Allen the poacher picked off a loose pass, chipped ahead and won the race to claim his second try.
The second half was more evenly matched, with Sevenoaks hitting hard with two converted tries. Canterbury woke up in time to add another long-range breakaway, finished by Sam Payne. The game was then unfortunately called to an early halt due to a serious injury to a Sevenoaks player.
