Chairman’s Update – Ceasing All Rugby
Canterbury RFC

On Thursday 10th December the Club Committee took the decision to cease all Rugby until the New Year of 2021.

This was not a decision taken lightly as we are fully aware of the benefits of fresh air and exercise for everyone.

However with many school year groups closing and the ‘R’ rate rising across our geographical area it was decided that to close the Club was the right decision.

As Chairman I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone involved with CRFC for their patience so far. I am fully aware that numerous groups and sections have changed days/nights and timings in order to fit in. But I do believe that we have done as much as we could possibly have done given Lockdowns and Tiers.

None of this could have been achieved without our clear focus of #OneClub.

We have seen the emergence of Saucy Flo’s and to have had the Club open and vibrant for so much of the time has been brilliant. We have attracted numerous non-Club attendees and we have plans to be open for more weekday hours in the future.

I am also aware that these are very difficult times for many and I would like to re-iterate again that if anyone is struggling or knows of anyone who is then please contact me in full confidence that the Club will its utmost to help if it can.

The Club Shop will be Open this Sunday between 9am and 11am with the offer of spend £50 or more and get £10 off on all non pre-ordered items.

We are as ever very grateful to Joe for his volunteer time, so please pop along and grab those last minute gifts!

The Club Committee will be reviewing over the Christmas Period how and when we re-start in January 2021. As it stands Mini and Youth are due to re-commence on 3/1/21

In the meantime can I please offer up my Seasonal Greetings to you all and wish you the very best for a ‘near normal 2021’

Very best,

Giles.
