It is with great sadness that the club has
learned of the death of former club president Eddie Hardy.
Eddie was 85.
For over 60 years,
Eddie Hardy was the soul of Canterbury rugby.
Joining the club in the 1950s
he was a talented and mobile hooker for the 1st’s,
deserving of more county recognition.
His exuberance and joie de vivre was infectious in the 1970’s,
his pub, the Nag’s Head, was the
happy meeting place before away matches.
He was a great club servant, running the bar,
serving as fixture secretary not only for the club
but also the East Kent Fixture Exchange,
refereeing (perhaps not his greatest skill)
and as our much loved president for many years.
A genuine and lovely man,
Eddie will be missed by all of Kent’s rugby community.
Our thoughts go to Anne and the family at this difficult time. Eddie’s funeral will be at Barham Crematorium in Tuesday, January 28th at 11.20am followed b a reception at the club.
