Just after the final whistle of the first team match against Guernsey news reached us of the death of Gary Richardson. Gary fought bravely against cancer for a number of years, but finally lost his battle and his family and the club have lost a great man. He was dedicated to the game and to Canterbury, as an age group coach, sponsor, supporter and enthusiastic pre-match luncher. His sons, Elliot and Piers, are both players. We are told that Gary was given the half time score in the Guernsey match and smiled. At this very sad time the club wish to pass on their condolences to Julie and all the family and to offer any support needed. Gary’s funeral will be at Barham Crematorium on Friday, March 22nd at 4.40pm and afterwards at the club.

Details from the Richardson family.

So many have been asking about Dad’s wishes regarding flowers.
He asked for donations, in his memory, to Holding on Letting Go.
A charity very close to Dad’s heart, which provides support for bereaved children, in Kent.
We could, easily, have needed this amazing charity.
Many thanks.
Elliott, Piers, Mum (Julie!) & all the family.
