CANTERBURY PILGRIMS 24 SEVENOAKS 2ND 30
Pilgrims allowed this Invicta Division One game to slip away in the second half as the visitors claimed victory with a try two minutes from the end.
Sevenoaks dominated possession after the break but the city side, after taking a thirteen point lead, should have made more of it. Instead, basic errors crept in and the side lost its cohesion. First half tries from Frank Morgan. Jarvis Otto and Stuart Meredith , plus a Will Hilton conversion, gave Pilgrims a healthy lead at half way. Sevenoaks found only two penalty goals in reply. It was the visitors, however, who were first across the try line in the second half before wing Jack Colyer outpaced the defence to register a fourth Canterbury touchdown and Hilton’s conversion looked to have given them every chance of victory. Then the mistakes took their toll and two Sevenoaks tries cut the lead to one point. They sealed the win with that late score, exploiting their advantage as Morgan lay injured.
