CANTERBURY PILGRIMS 38 SIDCUP 2ND 5
Pilgrims mastered the testing conditions better as they ran out convincing winners in this Invicta One clash The return from injury of club Captain Max Cantwell and prop Alex Wake-Smith bolstered a pack which dominated all afternoon. Behind them, wing Kieran Thompson, with three tries, and fly half Alex Miller, who had a personal haul of eighteen points, were In great form. The first 20 minutes were nip and tuck as the sides got used to wind and rain. Sidcup scored their only try in this period with Miller replying for Pilgrims, but after that the city side took control. By half time they had established a 19-5 lead through Miller’s second try, a rolling maul score from Cantwell and two Miller conversions. The second half belonged almost entirely to the home side and Thompson’s pace and some a clever loop pass by Miller set up the wingman’s hat trick. Two more Miller conversions sealed a comfortable victory.
