It is with great sadness that the club has learned of the death of former player and long time supporter Phil Hannam. Phil died at his home in Surrey on April 22nd after a long period of failing health. He was a member of the front row union, a combative prop who played in the 1970s and 1980s, often alongside his close his close friend the late Mike Cory. Although he moved to Surrey, Phil never wavered in his support for Canterbury and was often at first team games both home and away. Despite his medical problems he continued to be a keen supporter and was last seen at the Richmond game at the end of February. Our thoughts are with his family and his son Giles has promised to hold a proper farewell for his dad once the current lockdown has ended.
