Season 2019/2020

It is very strange to be writing to you all with what should have been another 6 weeks to go.

But as we are all aware, we find ourselves in unprecedented times and to that end I wish you all the best for the next few months.
So we end without the completion of the season without all age groups and teams being able to celebrate without a number of fund raising events and our Annual Sponsors Lunch. It all seems very bizarre and indeed it is.

We started the 90th season with the 1st XV in National One in unchartered territories and it feels to me and probably most of you that we’re still in those territories!
As a Club we have continued to be extremely competitive right across our playing sides and off the field.
We have welcomed many new people to our magnificent Club who have left with a very warm feeling from our welcome.
To all of you many thanks for your contribution.

Your President, Chairman and Executive Committee along with very useful input from our Advisory Board are working tirelessly to plan a way through this current position.
The level of support we have had so far is humbling to say the least. Please excuse us as we continue over the next month to knock the door for contributions to ensure we get to September in good shape. A large number of cost cutting initiatives have been undertaken and we will continue to look at every opportunity without damaging the very fabric of your Club.
So please stay safe and let’s combat whatever is put in front of us over the next few months in our #oneclub fashion. If there is anything we can do for any of you then remember there is the family of CRFC to lean on.

There will be further communications over the next few weeks as more unfolds. Ted is thinking of curry takeaways, Steve is thinking of collection of beer, Andy is thinking of post work exercise classes (at the correct distances). All or none may be possible but we will keep you informed

Thank you for everything you continue to do on behalf of Canterbury Rugby Club

Many, many apologies everyone but we’ve had to take the decision to cancel this Sunday’s rugby as well. Storm Dennis is bringing extremely high winds again and even more rain to already saturated pitches. Considering it is half term and the vast majority of age groups...

  • Proceed straight over the first set of traffic lights (by the Cross Keys pub)
  • Carry straight on over the second set of lights (by the Kent Cricket Ground).
  • At the third set of traffic lights turn right into Nackington Road. The turn is signed the B2068.

  • From the A2 (London-bound), take the exit sign for Canterbury.
  • At the first roundabout you encounter, take the second exit (bearing slightly left) down the Old Dover Road.
  • At the first set of traffic lights turn left into Nackington Road (if you go past Kent Cricket Ground you've gone too far). The turn is signed the B2068.

By train

Canterbury is served by two railway stations, Canterbury East and Canterbury West. A taxi is probably the best option from either as both stations are some distance from Merton Lane and buses are infrequent.
