Canterbury Rugby Community Department is dedicated to nurturing rugby’s spirit within our community. We aim to provide 3 weeks of rugby programs in secondary schools across Canterbury and establish a strong presence in local primary schools. With teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship as our guiding principles, we strive to inspire young athletes, promote active lifestyles, and foster a lifelong love for rugby in Canterbury. Together, we aim to build a stronger, united community through the power of rugby.
Our future projects encompass the “Rugby for all” ethos and we will be looking at supporting walking rugby, supporting Canterbury Hellfire (wheelchairs) and SEN.
IN THE SCHOOLS
We are currently working with 18 senior and primary schools within the East Kent area, and to date have delivered over 1600 hours of qualified rugby coaching to girls and boys. We are constantly increasing the number of schools we work with.
TOURNAMENTS & CAMPS
We run a series of in-school tournaments, adding a competitive edge. We also run rugby camps from the Marine Travel Ground, run by our qualified coaches. These camps focus on skills, teamwork, and above all, fun.
ACE Rugby Academy
As a player of the Rugby Programme, you will train four times a week with professional coaches from outside of the school. The training will take place both inside school and at the home of Canterbury Rugby Club. Travel is provided.
All Academy players will take part in fixtures and training and be expected to uphold a programme of academic study at The Archbishop’s School.
Coaching and games will be supported by regular video analysis of performance, use of our new purpose-built Gym, the chance to acquire qualifications within Rugby and the use of facilities at Canterbury Rugby Club.
Excursions to Twickenham, discounts at Canterbury Rugby Club and a full academic programme provide a great incentive to join and be a part of the Archbishop’s Canterbury Rugby Academy.

Our Partners
We are grateful and proud of the partnerships we have that have helped us reach out further into the community, advocating the principles of fun, fitness, and sport for all. These are key to us achieving our collective mission of giving everybody the access and opportunity to exercise. So far, our partnerships have allowed 1202 children in the local area to have access to qualified rugby coaching. This figure will only grow.
