NEXT 1st XV HOME GAME

Canterbury Rugby Club offers many things. A thriving social life, the chance to make new and long lasting friendships and feeling part of a real community are just some of the pleasures as well as being part of a great game. As East Kent’s leading community club we pride ourselves on providing sport and fun for a wide range of people.

From kids of Under 7 learning the joys of the game in our successful Junior teams, the Ladies sides and a successful Wheelchair Rugby section through to the many supporters who enjoy high quality National League men’s rugby for eight months of the year. In the summer we don’t go to sleep.

Among other things there is Touch Rugby, golf competitions, our famous City Lunches and a spectacular May Ball which is recognised  as one of the city’s biggest social occasions.

Whether you are a newcomer or an old friend we can assure you of a warm welcome at a club where you will meet some great people.

Come and find out for yourself.

What’s On

Season 2019/2020

It is very strange to be writing to you all with what should have been another 6 weeks to go.

But as we are all aware, we find ourselves in unprecedented times and to that end I wish you all the best for the next few months.
So we end without the completion of the season without all age groups and teams being able to celebrate without a number of fund raising events and our Annual Sponsors Lunch. It all seems very bizarre and indeed it is.

We started the 90th season with the 1st XV in National One in unchartered territories and it feels to me and probably most of you that we’re still in those territories!
As a Club we have continued to be extremely competitive right across our playing sides and off the field.
We have welcomed many new people to our magnificent Club who have left with a very warm feeling from our welcome.
To all of you many thanks for your contribution.

Your President, Chairman and Executive Committee along with very useful input from our Advisory Board are working tirelessly to plan a way through this current position.
The level of support we have had so far is humbling to say the least. Please excuse us as we continue over the next month to knock the door for contributions to ensure we get to September in good shape. A large number of cost cutting initiatives have been undertaken and we will continue to look at every opportunity without damaging the very fabric of your Club.
So please stay safe and let’s combat whatever is put in front of us over the next few months in our #oneclub fashion. If there is anything we can do for any of you then remember there is the family of CRFC to lean on.

There will be further communications over the next few weeks as more unfolds. Ted is thinking of curry takeaways, Steve is thinking of collection of beer, Andy is thinking of post work exercise classes (at the correct distances). All or none may be possible but we will keep you informed

Thank you for everything you continue to do on behalf of Canterbury Rugby Club

Giles
